| Name: | Megavolt |
|---|---|
| Location: | United States |
Character you'd like to play and the series they're from: Megavolt, from Darkwing Duck.
Use three words to describe your character's personality: Insane, inventive, forgetful.
Describe what their special powers/talents are: Megavolt has the ability to, well, control electricity. This includes being able to survive (nay, thrive on) high voltage electrocutions, shoot electricity out of his fingertips, and power whatever crazy device he has on him at the time. In addition, he also has the power to move electrical appliances around, according to his will. This extends to metal objects, too, for some reason. The down side to having electrical powers, though? He shorts out when confronted with water.
Bio: Before Megavolt was Megavolt, he was a mild-mannered science nerd named Elmo Sputterspark. Elmo was bullied quite often, as nerds tend to be. This fact resulted in disaster one day in June, when he was conducting an experiment involving static electricity. A bully taped his hands to the carpeted treadmill he was running on and sped it up to uncomfortably high speeds before leaving him. For hours he ran, until finally, the light bulb the static had been powering exploded, freeing him. Relatively unharmed, Elmo went to leave but received a massive static shock after touching the metal doorknob. This shock fried his brain, and also gave him a really goofy looking hairdo. After discovering his new found powers, he resolved to entertain people at cocktail parties (ones that take place on yellow trains) and, oh, also to get revenge on those that had tormented him. Later that night, Megavolt made his appearance at the school prom, intending to destroy the school and all of the students with it. His plan was foiled by Darkwing Duck, however, who also made his first appearance that night.
Since then, Megavolt has made it his life's mission to free light bulbs from their captive states by stealing them and ending their senseless toil. He views them as living beings and thinks of their utilization as enslavement. The light bulbs are his friends and he often converses with them, seeking their advice on matters or just comforting them after releasing them from their servitude. Needless to say, Megavolt has a few screws loose.
Nevertheless, he's still rather brilliant and has created complex devices time and again. Granted, this is so he can rob various stores or banks, but the villainous purposes for his gadgets make them no less brilliant. In addition, he's capable of understanding scientific concepts that no one else gets. His likely genius IQ doesn't mean that he's not forgetful, though, as he is. On the lesser side of things, he'll forget how certain sayings go or when certain events occurred. On a more alarming scale, he's briefly forgotten that he was a super villain at all and, apparently, what his name was before he became Megavolt.
Presently, Megavolt is a member of the Fearsome Five, a group of criminals determined to... do villainous things. Their focus is mainly theft, as is his own focus when working individually, although on one occasion they took over St. Canard. He generally gets along alright with his teammates, but it's a tenuous relationship and he only appears to actually be friends with Quackerjack. Even that is somewhat debatable, however. Negaduck, in particular, frightens Megavolt, but then again, he frightens everyone on the team, so this isn't exactly surprising.
Occasionally, Megs seems to have a somewhat affable relationship with Darkwing Duck and has worked with him on multiple occasions. Even when they're enemies in typical hero/villain fashion, he'll sometimes be pretty decent to DW. Once not being able to roast DW because the hero was in quite a pitiable state, and later to tackle-hug the duck after his confidence had returned. Generally, however, their dynamic is more usual, with Megavolt attempting to kill DW and DW conversely working to foil Megs's plans.
Oh, and don't call him "Sparky". He hates that.
